The IVQ Editor consists of three main parts: (1) - Settings pane for defining various settings for the quiz; (2) - Video player for playing back the video and adding a question at a specific point; (3) - The timeline at the bottom which shows the questions on the timeline as they form.

  1. For the Quiz Editor's General window, we first define the quiz parameters
    a. Quiz Name: Provide a name for your quiz based on the video subject 
    b. Welcome Message: Add a message to the quiz window that welcomes your students to the content. You can keep the default message if that is sufficient
    c. In-Video tip: Check this box if you want the default tip text to appear
    d. Question List: Provide users with a downloadable list of the quiz questions

  2. You can click the Revert to defaults option if you decide to reinstate the default values 
  3. Click Apply to move to the next set of video quiz options 
  4. The Quiz Editor's Experience window opens 
  5. For the Experience window, we next define the user experience during the quiz
    a. Edit Answer: Check this box if you want your students to be able to change their answers before submitting them
    b. Skip For Now: Check this box if you want to allow your students to skip a question and answer the question later
    c. If you want to return to the previous window, click Back to return to the General window

  6. You can click the Revert to defaults option if you decide to reinstate the default values
  7. Click Apply to move to the next set of video quiz options
  8. The Quiz Editor's Score window opens
  9. For the Score window, we next define the score parameters when the user submits the quiz
    a. Do Not Show Scores: Enable this radio button option if you do not want to show scores
    b. Show Scores: Check this radio button box if you want your students to be able to view their scores 
    c. include Feedback: Check this box if you want your students to be able to see correct and incorrect answers. This feedback is presented with the score only after the quiz is submitted
    d. If you want to return to the previous window, click Back to return to the General window

  10. You can click the Revert to defaults option if you decide to reinstate the default values
  11. Click Apply to add your changes to the Scores window and to move to the next set of video quiz options
  12. The Quiz Editor's Add Questions window opens
  13. You will be able to use this window to
    a. Create Questions
    b. Create Answers
    c. Create Hints
    d. Shuffle the order of answers
    e. Create Rational

  14. To add a question, first play the video and press Pause where you wish to insert a question on the timeline

  15. Once the video is paused, a blue + button will appear in the center of the screen
  16. Press the blue + button seen in the center of the screen to add a question

  17. As seen in the image above, enter your question where indicated on the player's question screen. Add the additional answer (the wrong answer) where indicated on the player’s question screen
  18. In the question screen, click on the Shuffle (1) button to shuffle your answers so that the correct answer does not always appear at the top of the list. Enter the correct answer where indicated on the player’s question screen. It indicates it with text and also with green color
  19. To add a Hint (2), press the light bulb button at the top right of the player’s question screen. A hint contains additional information the user can choose to see while answering the question
  20. For each additional answer, click the black + button (3) to open another answer box
  21. Click Save (4) at the bottom side of the question screen to save your question and answers
  22. Click Delete to delete your question and return to the player’s initial question screen
  23. To edit the question, click on the question point to open the question screen for the question you wish to edit
  24. Click Save to apply the new changes
  25. The letter Q on the timeline indicates the question's location in the video. You can move the question location by clicking on the question point and dragging it to the new location
  26. Click Save to save the new location
  27. Continue to play the video and pause it at selected points to add new multiple choice questions
  28. Once all questions have been added, click Save to apply of changes to the video quiz
  29. Best practices for quiz editors
    a. Always shuffle your answers for each question
    b. All incorrect answer choices should be credible
    c. Stay away from using "all of the above" and "none of the above" wrong-answer problems
    d. Ensure that the questions represent definite real-world problems
    e. Be consistent with each answer lengths
    f. Strive for constructive learning and critical thinking problem solving
    g. Ensure that the single correct answer is clear and why the other questions are the incorrect options
    h. Place your final question at the end of the video to keep your students engaged until the video topic is completed
